For comparison here is my LA Z verified by JM. This stamp with the elongated D was used for about a three week period at the LA plant. Yours looks like a more squared off D, but the Z is similar except for the top leg.

Contact KurtS.

I have seen that square D before, but can't tell you what weeks it was used. Also, there can be two DZ engines assembled the same day with differing stamps. There were two lines going at the same time according to JohnZ.

It doesn't look like the block has been decked, it looks correct. I have had many DZ blocks, sometimes the D is different like these 2 photos shown

Is there a Vin stamping on the block and what's it like?
Also not that this one is but the short bottom Z has been seen on known restamps.
How's things Des?

Still trying to get a VIN stamping Pete...it's there down by the oil filter, trying to get the camera to pick it up...mostly 19N? ?5650 I think. My best guess right now is 19N705650
