Default A question of timing the event...

I've not posted on SYC for a good while. Some may remember me, most not. The meat of this post is - I've befriended a guy who started out as a customer. HE has a Silver Anniversary L82 4-gear Corvette, with a modified engine and rear [best time 12.83]. He is in marginal health, I have been steady working on the car to get it reliable, he wants do do a few road trips [me driving the car] while he is able. I immediately thought of the Supercar Convention.

I was, as you that remember me will recall, Larry Clain's friend. The last Supercar Convention I attended was with Larry and the Motion Corvette. Very shortly after we attended - which was GREAT - Larry passed. To the present, Jim, the owner of the Silver Anniversary car, is interested in the event. I am concerned. I am not sure the car would even fit in with the Yenko cars and Ray's Motion, but I am really concerned about Deja Vu.

Thoughts and opinions, please. Silver Anniversary Corvette in action

Hey Perry. I was just thinking of you and Larry the other day. Not sure if you remember me. We had a beer or two up in Tulsa, right after Larry passed. Do you know who ended up buying the Pantera, and if it ever got the attention it needed? I also remember the early midyear Corvette and the L78 Nova. Hopefully they went to good homes.

I wish I could be at SYC this year, but won't work out. Maybe next year.

As for the car "fitting in", I honestly don't think it matters. I drove a Bimmer to the 07 reunion. IIRC, Charley raced a rented SUV on Friday. Seems I remember him pulling the air box trying to find another .03 somewhere.

As for the deja vu, I can't really help you there. But.... I think Larry would want you to take Jim. Sounds like that is likely the only way he is going to get to go. We all need friends like you at some point in our lives.

Understandable concern about the 'deja vu' thing, but look at it this way - if you did NOT attend and your friend ended up passing anyway, I am betting you'd feel terrible for not taking him. Make your plans to go
