Please explain the importance of THIS engine.

For a drag race engine the HP numbers are not that strong !!!

Bill Jenkins is what the importance is...although Bret or Jake most likely assembled it.

My 302 "292" heads and cross ram were done at Jenkins shop.

Exactly....Chuck, this engine is all about the legacy of the man that built it and what he stood for. This engine is designed to fit under the hood of any GM A-body or B-Body without any modifications....to run on pump gas, hydraulic camshaft, steal rods, low compression designed to idle at @ 650 rpm idle. A real sleeper built by an NHRA Giant

Thanks for the education......I had no idea that Bill Jenkins built anything other than all out race engines.

I am most recently only use to seeing extreme "all in" 10,000 RPM
drag race 358 inch engines (1000+ HP)

Chuck,

Exactly the reason that makes this engine that much more Special....it was Jenkins first attempt to make a Street Engine, hence the 001 serial number.
The plan was to start a Street Engine series of this engine, but unfortunately Jenkins got sick.

I find it hard to believe that there is any explanation needed on why this motor is important. Anytime you see that Jenkins Competition logo on an engine that's the equivalent of a chevrolet brass knuckle. It means brace for impact ... I miss the Grump .. I wish he were still with us ... Cheers to you wherever you are ya grumpy bastard
