Default Odd looking 1112000 distributor

The comment about the "X" on another thread prompted me to pull this one out of my inventory. Anyone ever see one like this before and does anyone have any explanation as to why? I understand the xx's but usually they then stamped a different number next to it. No idea what the "D" is for either.
