Default '79 Suburban Trailering Special, Super Clean 1-Family Owned

Shows you how nicely the Idaho climate preserves old cars. This is one super nice truck. Sounds like it has a crate 350 rather than the original engine, but for a vehicle like this I'm not sure it makes much of a difference in value.

I love these old square body Suburbans but much prefer the rear barn doors over a tailgate.

That one's a 2WD version.

My how "trailer special" has come in 30 years. Back then all Chevy did was throw on a trailer hitch and call it a trailering package. We had a half a dozen Suburbans back then, one after each other (big family). You'd have to wire your own harness for the trailer, add coolers etc. Just look at the five lug wheels and half ton suspension riding on the ground. Ah, the memories...

In 1987 we bought a 3/4 ton, K2500 Burb 4x4. By then they figured it out..sort of. 350 4bbl with a turbo 400 and 4.10 gears. 8-lug wheels and big axles with lots of brakes. I think it got 9 mpg (highway). :-)
