Greetings Folks!
I’ll be headed out in a February to visit the guy that’s going to be making the BMW 507 body for me, and then it hit me: How is me going to get the body to Texas without it looking like a dropped hard boiled egg.?. ![]() ![]() Trusting nobody but myself to transport this, and even then the source is scary ![]() So, does this sound plausible? Anyone know how Cobra kit cars are shipped? Are there specialized shippers that deal with stuff like this? Just curious if anyone may have experience dealing with shipping something of this size and fragility. Thanks guys! Cheers ![]() Dave |

the cobras ive seen are on a simple 2x4 skid with risers to hold the cowl up and the area behind the seats up too..not very complicated 3 or 4 skids tacked together and some support to keep it hanging instead of laying on the rockers and fenders etc..
this is a general idea https://quartermax.com/cynergy-c7-z0...-carbon-fiber/ i did a google and used fiberglass kit shipping crate

How about wrapping it in plastic and then just placing it in your enclosed trailer on some pillows and then filling the entire trailer, floor to ceiling, with two-part urethane foam? You may have to dig it out when you arrive but it will be intact. ;-)

Hmmmm..... are you talking about those memory foam pillers Stevarino? Or just your standard wake-up-with- neck- pain Target jobbies?
![]() ![]() Found a few good ideas looking at how those Cobras are shipped. Gonna be some carpentry, but nothing crazy. Cheers ![]() Dave |

I assume when they are making the body it will be on some sort of buck/cart? If not can you or the fab shop make one? Back in the day at the Corvette restoration shop I worked at when the bodies came off the frame they were put on a body dolly and then we just rolled them in and out of the trailer if they got sent out for paint work. Never had an issue.

Thanks, Jake. When I head out there to chat with the shop I’ll see what they have going on. They do make Cobra bodies, but not sure if they ship them. It’ll be on the discussion plate for sure!
