Default Talk about unrealistic expectations

https://www.hemmings.com/stories/202...ign=2020-04-15

I know it is politically incorrect to make fun of someone's Dream Machine.

I am not really making fun of the build, although it would be hard to call most of the mods "tasteful". What really gets me is that the seller apparently believes $127,800 is a realistic asking price for a 1981 Corvette.

I run across some pretty cool cars from time to time that are featured as the "Find of the Day" in Hemmings. This one has me scratching my head. "Stick-on" wood trim in the interior? Really? On top of that, only four pics. Well, that may be a blessing.

The last sentence in the description tells me that a real "car guy" wrote the ad. "Rack and Pinion are 373 gears."

Some of the comments are pretty funny.

"I confess to having had a warmup suit in those same colors in the mid-80’s." LOL!

Hopefully it's a typo and they're asking $12780 for it. Even that would be optimistic in my opinion.

Talking Dream Machine...

I think Tibor should buy it and do an LS conversion

Update from the Hemmings site: "UPDATE: Comments are closed for this post because some of you don't seem to understand how to keep disparaging comments to yourself. Remember, commenting here is a privilege, not a right."

I can only imagine some of the comments that used to be there....

And to be fair (well, maybe too late for that) this was probably someone's dream build in the 80's. I remember looking at John Greenwood's wide body Vette, and thinking it was pretty cool. One of the car rags had a project titled "Big Banana" with the wide body.

While the mods are over the top and most are not to my liking (i.e. the stick on wood), this may bring back memories for someone. We have all seen worse.

I was just shocked at the asking price.

I recall seeing several stylized Corvette packages offered by customizers after the movie Corvette Summer became a cult hit.

I think the selection of the 1990 ZR1 wheels on it now tends to ruin any nostalgic connection to the period of automotive fashion this car was originally built to commemorate.
