Default Wow...GM (Kustom) Sidepipes, 3977972 3977971

Hanging in the garage for 40 years...I can't say that I've ever seen a set this nice before. If I were local (seller won't ship) I'd buy these to stash them away for the right car. I don't think you can go wrong for $500.

Actually, if anyone lives near Fulton, NY, and would be willing to pick these up (with cash for your time), I will throw a bid on these....

----Tony,,,I bought a 70 LT1 new with 4:11s. Bought a set of these part numbered OKs from Slaton Chevrolet in Ft Liquerdale. I then yanked the smog and borrowed a set of too tall slicks (can't remember how big). Went to Palm Beach Dragway and with absolutely no other changes ran a 12.90 thru the traps without shifting into 4th (about 7200 if I can recall). Those headers work! As far as value goes they don't have the cache of a part# set of big block OKs as 69 L88 guys want them even if they don't use them. The plexi headlight kits are in the same realm along with the factory flares. All that stuff was meant expressly for 68/69 L88s and it's very cool to have all of the stuff along with the car.

----There also was a set of the big block ones on the 69 L88 I bought from the original owner in 1974. I've forgotten how many sets I bought over the years. Finally started buying non-part #rd OKs as they were cheaper and exactly the same except for the Gm part # was missing.....Bill S

----Just noticed that I don't see mufflers. A good muffler guy could make a pair but it would be nice if they were there.

I wonder where that 70 LT1 is today, Bill. I have a set of headers and sidepipes similar to those on my Scarab and 427 Cobra, I love those.

Somebody needs to help Tony our on these. If I had half a brain, I would get them for my 70 LT-1. But, I have the original manifolds for my car and will probably be selling it, so not a good idea.

Still, somone help Tony out.

----Tim,,,As we all know the opening day of some of the Chevrolets was late. At that time I was in Massachusetts to take my physical to go in to the army. I went to the final physical and they turned me down (1Y). I was honestly relieved. I had been working in Florida and doing pretty well. To add to the equation, about three months before I had lost my 67 Vette 327/350 with AC to thieves so I had the cash and started looking for a car. At a local dealership I found 7 brand new Corvettes. 3 were LT1s. I chose a Daytona yellow 'vert with tilt column and deluxe interior, the only one with both those options, and drove back to Florida. Within a month I knew I couldn't take the yellow and to add to that it was a very poor factory paint job. Long story short, I painted it a custom maroon and did a couple of custom touches.
----Literally years later (probably) I was back in Fla. visiting (around 1992/3) and he told me my old car was right around the corner at another body shop. Went to look at it and they were in the middle of returning it to stock. I lost rack of it after that.....Bill S
