Hello members.
I purchased an LS-6 at the 2025 Mecum Kissimmee auction and unfortunately, at some point during the auction, the album of restoration photos and the original build sheet were misplaced, possibly placed in another vehicle. I am told that often many vehicle purchasers do not really check out their cars included documentation. I am hoping anyone that purchased a car at this aution will check any documentation they received. The photos would be of a 70 LS-6 Chevelle automatic cranberry red with black stripes. Ending Vin# on top right corner of build sheet is 163886 |

Oh man ! Does that suck! The auction house lost my 69 GTO Judge paperwork , but fortunately, 6 months later after several calls , they were able to track it down…
GTO obviously less stressful to lose as we have the PHS backup ….but 2 owner car with tons of original paperwork…can’t be replaced.Good Luck

If Mecum is the one that lost/misplaced these items, I would hope they would step up and notify all the vehicle buyers at their auction to be on the lookout. They would certainly have contact info for all of them.

Looks like MECUM has an even bigger problem of not keeping documents secure.
Sounds like this has happened to more than one of their vehicles,so why haven't they changed their procedures to insure this doesn't keep happening again, and again, and again? Topics like these is what can keep potential future customers away from them as well. |

The elephant in the room is the fact that a generous 6-figure price was paid for a top shelf, documented collector car . . . . . and suddenly there’s no documentation and it might be difficult to recoup that money now without that documentation. Simply stated, the car is worth less now. I’d be absolutely livid wanting a FULL refund from the auction house especially since the auction description mentioned the Build Sheet & restoration photos are supposed to be included with the vehicle purchase. Sure, there’s a photo of the BS on the auction description but I’d want the ORIGINAL sheet in my hands!

So they can generate millions in fees, millions in TV revenue, and find a way to pump (FMV or really alcohol fueled value??) value up beyond what a non-auction sale would be…. But can’t secure someone’s valuables???
Not for nothing but Id be rewinding that sale through an attorney… and since it sounds like they’ve had similar issues… no way I’d send a car and paperwork together.. Sounds like a company more focused on revenue than actually safeguarding someone’s property |
