Default insulator plate 1970 SHP BB

I am sure someone knows about this one. Did any of the 69-70 BB SHP engines come factory with a Holley carb Insulator plate,?? these things always pop up on Ebay and wondering what the deal was. Thanks as always.

Our '69 BB car didn't come with one. Cowl breathers, windage trays etc. could be bought over the counter in those days. Does anyone know when these insulators first came out. I think these were over the counter items as well. For hot weather driving, they are a good addition.

As far as (I) know, they were used on the SHP engines and some HP engines that were destined for California and was part of the California emissions program. For any other application, I believe they were dealer installed or over the counter.

They may be ugly but they work great, esp on the 70 low plenum intake.

JR,
Did you look at the Nova Times back issue from September 1997? Page 39, the upper right picture? They show the carb on the intake. Didn't look like they put a plate on.
