Default MQ Code on 1969 427 Chevelle

Does this have any significance? This code is listed on a Yenko clone. The vehicle looks to be correct. The seller is saying it could be a COPO. Any Idea of the value would be appreciated. Thanks

Seems like pretty nice Yenko clones are in th 30K range, some higher. Hey for a really nice driver that you don't have to worry about hurting, why not?

Hello, the MQ code indicates a 1967 or 1968 L-78 engine. I really could not guess at values. I hope this little bit of input helps you. Dave

There is a Yenko Camaro clone on ebay now that has bid up to $30,000. I happend to see this car in person and it was priced at $49,000. Wow...I find it hard to imagine that a car like this will bring these kind of dollars. It is a very well done car.

I think the MQ code he is referring to is for the '69 COPO Chevelles (if it's stamped on a 512 block).

ACES073 (L89Sedan?):

Glad to see you stop by! Ever find you a Y-Chevelle yet?

MQ is the right engine sufix code for a COPO Chevelle 4sp car. It could be a restamped block. The ad claims "Deadnuts right for a Yenko Chevelle Replica" but looks like wrong grill, parking lights and steering wheel to me.

The MQ code was used on the L78 in the 67-68 Camaro and '68 Nova. It was used again for the 4 speed 427 in the COPO Chevelles in '69. The 512 COPO block will have the two big pipe plugs in the block above the oil filter boss. That looks like a Bendix brake booster instead of the proper Delco-Morraine unit. Looks like the fenders were painted on the car. Not the type of restoration work that will draw any where near top dollar. The grill should be blacked out as well. You might want to check the centre of the tail panel between the tail lights for filled holes. They do call it a clone but it would take quite a few dollars to make it as good as they say.
