Default Brite dip? Valve covers, Air cleaners

I've been looking around for a while now for a shop that will " bright dip " For lack of a better word my valve covers and air cleaner lid. Rechroming is too shiney and smooth. I want the covers to look factory ( dull and thin plated). Has anyone made any headway with having this done correctly?

What you are refering to is called flash chrome. And any compitent plater you have a good repore with should be able to do this. If you don't have anyone you can trust I'll put you in touch with the plater I use for the cars at my shop.

That would be great. You make it sound easy but every advertiser in Hemmings etc make no mention of doing this type of work? Email me if you don't want to post the platers name..& thanks.
