This was being discussed on the Pure Stock board, so I thought I would ask here.
Did any of the passenger cars get aluminum heads? Any L-72/L-89 BIG cars? The reason for asking, is Casey found a picture of a '68 L-72/L-89 Biscayne, and someone asked if such a beast was possible. Micky, are you out there? |

in 25 years of documenting, owning and researching SS427 Impalas, I have never heard of or seen any legit cars. With that being said, it was very possible as you all know to go into Chevrolet or some dealers with $$ and order almost any combination possible. I just have never seen one. I also know of no engine prefix for this in an Impala. I also checked www.impalass427.com and there is no mention there as well.
Anyone have a documented car? [Edited by SS427 (02-18-2002 at 01:40 PM).]

Nothing I have seen documented or have even heard of a real one. There was a bogus car (68 Biscayne) that was a tan color running super chevy events a few years back that was set up like that.

I think the gold L-89 car you are talking about is at Imperial Palace in Las Vegas I remember seeing it there, when I was there for SEMA. Go to http://www.autocollections.com/ Then cars for sale and scroll down to it.

I saw a muscle car show about six years ago and they showed a 1969 El Camino with an L89. The car/truck was one of one and had been ordered by the owner of a dealership and they had the papers on it. I know how papers can be forged and all but it seemed as though the car was as represented. Dave

Run, don't walk from the one that is on e-bay. Wrong grill, hidden headlights (only available on Caprice and Caprices were not available in convertible format) '68 drivers side mounted alternater, etc, etc, etc.
