Default Dealer Specific Forums: good or bad?

Just a little poll to see people like the individual forums for the dealers/copos or not.

I think it is a good idea except that there may be too many forums. May need to combine some.IMO

I agree with JoeC but wait and see if there is enough interest to support each Dealer Specific Forum.

You may be able to learn something about this from the log files. If you see in the logs that some people com here only to read one or two dealer forums, then the separate forums are useful. In my case, I normally read every single post in every forum. So making more separate forums just increases the amount of clicking that I need to do to read everything. Not to complain though, this is probably my favorite spot on the web, so thanks and keep up the good work.

Don:

Just a suggestion: go to the bottom of the main forum page, and click on either "past 24 hours", "past 48 hours", etc, and that should save you some clicks. That will show you the posts made in that time span, and may save you some clicks. Let me know if that helps or not! I want this place to be as user friendly as possible.

Yes, vote, but reduce the # of categories.
Yenko, other USA, and Canada categories would work just fine. B-M might warrant it's own, but Douglas, Emmett, etc are missing.

Personally, I prefer it the old way. Considering the amount of activity lately, it seems overly redundant to have these specific categories. I've learned a ton and found great information about cars that I wouldn't have otherwise gone out of my way to read about. Also, input on a given topic may come from sometimes obscure sources (i.e. an enthusiast who focusses mainly on Yenko's may have some vital or somewhat obscure info that they may be prompted to contribute in a category (like Motion) that they would not now generally frequent). My point being that this is a somewhat diverse community which shares information openly and I would hate to see it potentially limited. I don't think that there's anything inherently wrong w/ adding these sub-groups. But, for example, I personally read the 'general discussion' daily whereas I only read the 'tech questions' a couple times a week. Adding further categories may hinder getting an important question answered in a timely manner.
Just my $.02
-Mark

I like it, and think you should let work like this for a while, and if some areas are not visited that much then look at combining them to reduce the numbers.I visit the site every day numerous times ,I can do this because I am retired and have plenty of time.It will take a little time to get used to it but remember CHANGE IS GOOD!!

rob and tom, a very good job on the site. activity is down on every website, it is summer. i think the variety of all topics will get more activity when people aren't at car shows , on the lake, partying, working outside and the normal increase in activity you have from everybody in the summer, its not cold and you have more daytime hours to dothings outside and stay off the computer. keepup the great work.
