Default '68 Biscayne question ??

OK guys - don't know if you remember me asking about that L-89 car a couple of months back. But again, I'm a bit confused ...... could you only get the 427/385 in a Biscayne ? Were the higher HP 427's available in the Caprice / SS / Imp's ??

I'm hung up on '68 Biscaynes, and am toying with either cloning a 427 car, or looking for a legit unit.

The 427 425hp L72 engine was available in 66 to 69 full size Passenger cars. Except 1967. Not sure if it came in Impala and Biscayne every year but some years was both. Some say a few 425hp Passenger cars were built in 1967 but it is listed as not available. The COPO Camaro and Chevelle used this engine not the 69 Corvette engine which was the L71. L72 was not avaiable in Corvette in 1969. Motion sold the 425 hp Passenger cars as his economy hot rod. They were a little fat but still ran in the 12's.

If I jump in here, do you PROMISE you won't prank call me again about an L-72 Biscayne?! That was straight out of "Jerky Boys"! What's bad is that it worked!

Anyway, back on topic: you looking to get something to match Brian's Marauder? (I can't wait to see that car in Stanton!) Here is a former feature car, a '69 Baldwin-Motion Biscayne, which rolled off the assembly line originally as an L-72/M-22 car. I think a big car like that could run right with Brian's car, and I would LOVE to be there to see it!

Thanks Joe and Rob .....

Yes - I'd like to do a '68 L-72 Biscayne. Anyone have any leads on a super clean car ? Preferably a V8, manual trans. I'm assuming that I wouldn't be able to afford a *real* car, so I'd have to clone one. It's either that or a 70 AMC Rebel Machine ......... I'm sure you guys would much rather see me in a Chev ... right ??

How about a 1969 L89 ElCamino TH400. They have a lot of rear over hang especially with the tail gate down. I think they would get a good 60ft time and you can carry your tools in the back.

Now that pic is VERY COOL !! Damn those things look tough !

Hey Rob - Brian's calling today on an original, with docs, 62 Galaxie, 406 TriPower, three-on-the-tree, radio delete car. White, button caps, red interior ..... neat car.
