I have heard rumours about them, but never have seen any documentation of any sort to back it up. I've heard of 1970 LT-1 Monte Carlos as well, but nothing to back that up either. Kind of like the Loch (sp) Nest Monster.

I think if you found a magazine article on the car, documentation, a previous/current owner or the car itself there would be a great deal of interest. Like JoeC said don't know of any COPO ElCaminos.

I would look in the yellow pages and start calling private investigators. Explain your situation to them and ask whether they may be able to locate this car based on very little information. The only bright note I see is, if they have access to DMV records, how many 1969 El Caminos can still be registered in your area?

This isn't a Black on Black 69 L-89 El Camino is it? I know of one. From what I've read and researched it is one of one built.I do know the history and it is documented but I don't believe it was ever in your area.I know it is not a COPO but it is a rare truck with a similar description.....

I do remember seeing this truck. It was parked in the infield of race track on Minnesota state fair grounds .The owner had it there during a show and swap.Seems like it would have been quite a few years back.He had Yenko embels on it.He was telling people it was a factory 427.As I remember it appeared to be a back room motor swap. There is a show swap there this week end.I will ask around if any one knows what happened to the car.Earl

Every once in a while a similar thread pops up over on [ur=http://www.chevelles.com]Team Chevelle, and the El Caminos used to land the U2 spy aircraft come up, and some gentleman that claim to be there said they believe they were 427 cars. Try doing a search over on there bulletin board, as this has came up several times over there.

Whether there was such a thing, I don't know...but it would make for one cool tow vehicle!
