Holley Carb, Application?

I have a Holley, 3878261-EH List-3310 9B2. Anybody know the application for this carb? Someone said a Z-16 but that cant be right because of the date code. Thanks. [img]/ubbthreads/images/icons/confused.gif[/img]

You sure of the date on it>? All the other numbers show its is a Z16 carb but then in 66 the 3310 was also the list numbers for a 66 396/375 HP engine also

Jeff, Thats the dilema I am having, the guy I bought it from swears it came off a Z-16, but I am reading the date code right, (I even had the wife look since my eyes aint so good anymore), but it is 9B2, which doesnt make any sense with corralation to the other numbers. There is enough wizards of this stuff out there that someone must know.

I searched the 62-70 Chevy parts book and only saw a listing for:
65 Chevelle (396) 3878261 assy. (R-3310A)

The Holley Carb numerical listing shows:
R-3310A 65 Chevelle 396 (425 HP) HI Perf. only. Vehicle Mfg. Part no.= 3878261 code = EH.

I did not see any other listing for EH, but the Holley Book and I do get along too well since I have not scanned it into the system yet. It is kind of hard to search by vehicle part number. Looks like there are some after market and universal 780 cfm carbs built on the 3310 part number, but I would not think it would have the GM part number for the after market. I am sure others might chime in. <font color="red"> And look i took so long to compose others did. </font color>

Greg, I am starting to think that the 9 was a factory stamping error, it wouldnt be the first time it happened, still looking for other ideas? Thanks.

I would think the date would be 982 instead of 9B2
9= 1969
8= August
2= second week
65-72 had a 3 digit date code while 73-75 had 4 digits.

? what kind of choke does it have ? Intefral or Divorced (remote type) they switched in 66 to the Divorced type.

Jeff, You are right on the date code, it is a 8 not a B, but that still doesnt explain the 9? the metering blocks are 5271 Primary and 4519 secondary, has no bowl idle vents, most of the choke linkage is missing, it had the linkage arm that ran through a whole in the carb down the side,has the secondary butterfly rod with the drilled threded rod, vacuum secondaires. The guy I got it from swears his has the shell of the car he has been parting out for years due to a major accident. But the 9 still doesnt make sense unless it was a misstamp or a correct replacement stamped with a date code when produced for service. If I can ascertain it is a Z-16 carb on will list it here in the classifieds in hopes a Z-16 owner can get it, as thats were it belongs. Thanks Jeff.

Did the seller say if he removed it from an intake at all? If so what was its casting number? Also looking at the bottom of the carb can you tell if it was mounted on a 2 or 3 hole intake. the Z16's used intake 3866963 which was a 3 houle intake. 3 hole meaning 2 smaller holes and then one large oval one for the rears

This was a service replacement carb built in 1969. The Z-16 got a lot of publicity and many people went to the Chevy parts counter and ordered this carb. I have one also and this same question has come up many times so this tells me that there was a large number of these carbs sold. I also have a 1967 L88 carb that has a 1970 build date.

The 3310 Holley carb is probably the popular carb Holley ever had. They have produced it in many "speed shop" versions, some even having FORD type kickdown linkage. I'll bet its still available in some form from your favorite mail order speed parts warehouse. I'll look at some old pictures tonight, but i'll bet the original carb came with the 3124/3130 type float bowls with the tiny inlets. I'm sure the original 3310 also had a pipe threaded hole for vacuum between front and back barrels, on the drivers side.
