Chevelles at Barrett Jackson

The car which Surprised me at the B/J auction was the Red/Black Top and Interior 4 speed Convertible L89 1968 Chevelle Which Wayne Potts brought to the auction.

I only had a chance to look at it post sale . It was to have had an original protecto plate as well as "other" documentation.

Panel fitment was a slight issue as well as some of the detail items,but a very nice car over all.I would be very surprised to see a perfect Judging sheet as it was represented to have attained ("1000 point car"), even from "Chevy/Vette Fest" or Super Chevy Judges. The Price in the mid $50,000.00 plus fees however seemed to be quite a bargin IMO if it was indeed the Genuine article.

Wayne also sold the White 1970 L78 Chevelle Rag Top which I beleive was formerly in the "Mr Gasser" collection.

There were also a few Driver Quality 1970 Chevelle Convertibles sold???

The 1969 Lemans Blue/Blue with white convertible top 396, which Mark mentioned was gorgeous. A bit over restored in some areas but, one of the best Chevelles at the auction IMO.

I didn't spend much time looking at the Chevelle Coupes, but the Wagner's LS6 was one of the better quality Coupes from what I saw, to help provide a gauge on price & condition.

There were approx 800 Cars, so it took a bit of time just to see most of them, much less give them a good overall inspection.

Thanks for the Chevelle overview Stefano, of sincere interest to me. I would tend to agree on the 'bargain' of that 68 L89 Velle Ragger, if that was a Camaro it probably would have brought a lot more I assume. Sure seems the droptops will always have value considering that 69 L35 Chevelle went for about $50K. Someday I'll just have to make plans to get down there to take part in this happening first hand.

A point to Remember when assessing cost/value on these cars is that an 8% buyers premium applies to the purchase price as well as sales tax, and sometimes substantial storage and shipping fees.

You need to include these factors when determining an accurate total cost for a particular vehicle.

Stefano, how was the line up of cars with original docs-
window stickers, MSO's, dealer invoices. Having a POP is cool for a GM car, but with those being made to order out of Hemmings that really doesn't mean much to me.......Joel

Joel,
MSO's were used to title the cars and it would be a very rare and extreme situation where you would have anything other than a copy. I have seen some rare race cars that are still on Factory MSOs because they were never licenced for street use.

About The 1968 L89 Chevelle Convertible.
Did you see the Protecto Plate,and believe this car is Real from the factory?
I have talked to some from the auction with their views,and I am interested in what you think about it.
Did you look at the block close?
