Hello everyone. I am a bit confused at this point, regarding the associated parts that came with the over the counter cross-ram set up for a 69 Z/28 302cid V-8/290h.p.
I have heard they could be purchased over the counter (never installed in a vehicle-per G.M. doc's in Jerry MacNiesh's Definitive Z SS COPO masterpeice) and have been told they have consisted of: 1-The Manifold only 2-The manifold, gaskets, carbs. 3-The manifold, gaskets, carbs, throttle linkage. 4 The manifold, gaskets, carbs, throttle linkage, special off-road solid lifter cam and solid lifter set with cam. 5-and lastly all of #4 also including the fiberglass hood. What is the deal? Who can substantiate what they know, with G.M. Doc's, or at least direct me to the G.M. book with the list......Thanks, Joel- (Rest in Peace, Dennis Hartweg, I never knew you, but not to many people will roll in a 69 ZL-1 in this life time, on heck of an achievement!!!!) The only list I have seen is the complete crossram package which included the manifold, carbs, fuel lines, linkage, air cleaner, throttle cable, return springs, etc. The 140 cam/lifters was a separate item that could be ordered from the parts counter. The hood was an over the counter item as well. I don't believe GM had a package for all of it combined. Wayne Guinn has a book about the crossram stuff and the JL8 4 wheel disc brake. His website is www.camaro-untoldsecrets.com
