Default 1969 427 Caprice

I was wondering if any one of you could help me out? My parents have a 1969 Caprice with a factory 427 385hp in it. They are thinking about selling it and are not for sure what the value of it is. I kind have a rough idea what it might be worth but would like to hear from some of you to get another opinion. The car has over 100,000 miles on it. It's an auto car with ps, pb, pw, cruise control, am-fm radio, speed minder, ac, console, fiber optics, tilt steering. The car has all the original drive train, the engine was over hauled once and has very little miles on it. The car also has all the original sheet metal. The interior is in fairly good condition for being original. The car is phathom green with dark green interior and a green vinyl top ( the vinyl top needs to be replaced eventually). This car was never driven in the winter and was an Arizona car. I don't have any photos to post otherwise I would. Your help is greatly appreciated. Jesse,
I sent you a PM but you have not read it yet and you don't have e-mail listed. If you read this, get in touch with me before 3/20. Thanks,
Rick

I don't know what my parents have for documentation on the car. I haven't seen anything so I assume that thier isn't any. But, the car has never been dismanteled as far as I know. Other than the engine rebiuld that was done in the mid 80's. This car is an unrestored car. I have never went hunting for a biuld sheet or anything. It could still be under the back seat or in the headliner I don't know for sure. Right now the car is sitting in my parents garage and have been sitting their since 1993 and have only been started just to move it around if required. Hope this helps.

Jesse,
Without seeing the car it is pretty hard to estimate a value. Unfortunately Caprices do not bring a lot of money and are usually worth about what their drivetrain is worth. On average, I see complete used cars from the $2000-5000 range depending on a lot of things. If the car is rusted and can only provide a drivetrain, $1500-2000 is more accurate. I have seen exceptional cars sell in the $8000-12000 range if they are mint but those were SS427 Impalas and not Caprices.

A real nice Black /Red 1966 427/390 Caprice (loaded with options) was sold at auction last Spring here in Illinois for less than $10,000.00 The high HP solid lifter cars will fetch much more.
