I'm hoping you guys can save me some research time regarding what's available as far as Left Side A.I.R. tubes are concerned. One of the attachments is from the Benchmark LS6 website and shows a photo of the left side A.I.R. tube that makes the hose connection, essentially in the middle of the cylinder head. The other attachment is the one I have that looks peculiarly similar to the one Iíve seen on COPOís and Big Block Camaros.
Assuming that the Benchmark LS6 car has the correct piece: Are there any of these to be had? Is there a Re-Pop of this exact piece? Or is the Re-Pop piece the one shown in the second attachment? And, if the second attachment is a Re-Pop, is this acceptable? Continually trying to be Anal Restorative as opposed to retentive. ...SWB... |

OK, I always tell people you have to be smarter than what you're working on. I should heed my own advice. First post says thereís two attachments. Obviously, thereís only one. Hereís the second attachment.

Scott,
The one on the Benchmark LS6 (now owned by Chad) is the real deal and is the original to the car. That same version in reproduction that I have seen (and also the later GM replacements) have capped ends not the necked down version as seen in the first attachment. The wrap around front version was used on the L78's and early LS6 cars prior to going to the second design in (I believe) around January 1970. Paragon Corvettes sells a very good reproduction as does another Vette vendor (their name escapes me) and these also come available on e-bay from time to time. The repos (2nd design) are pretty good except for the color as originals have a brownish tint to them vs black. The repos are acceptable to all but Diamond Certification cars as far as I know. Rick

you might call Bill Hodel (330) 832-0871. He supplied me with the correct smog tubes for my b/b with a/c car. These are unique to 69 b/b a/c. They were beautiful.
