Recieved a phone call from someone who says he owns, in his garage a 69 ZL1 Camaro convertible that was owned by someone very big (VP) in the Chevy Corp. This is a Documented car with alot of paperwork. Needs resto

does this car have any other options? you would figure it would be fully optioned with A/C AM/FM, 8 Track etc. numbers matching motor? maybe the reason we havnt heard about it yet is it has just taken this long to fake all the paperwork and now he hears that GM will be releasing doc's and wants to get rid of the car??

Rich

Never say Never. There was at least one special ZL-1 made in 1970 for Bill Mitchell, so If this 69 does exist then it would qualify as the find of the decade.

More than willing to travel to look at the car. A neat car real or not.

Pretty funny thinking 69SS but the car is ALL original unrestored with LOTS of paperwork in need of a resto and is not for sale at the MOMENT. Guy payed in the 20's over 10 yrs ago. Alot of dough back then for a big block resto project unlss its a very rare car. I aready know who lives close by this car. He doesnt even know that this car is in his area and I will have him inspect this car(well known on this site)when its time.

Rich, I think youre guy must be messing with you as I spoke with Jim Matteson who assured me no such car was ever built. Jim was in charge of special projects so a car such as that would have had to come across his desk. We must all keep in mind with the upcoming release of documentation(which is happining), many cars with false documentation are going to be on the market right away before the ball drops. I would think that the ZL-1 engine in a 69 drop top would have twisted the car in half anyway.

I don't think this was an option that was available because of the high hourse power in a convertable. If this car did exist, the only way it could have been produced was for someone high up at GM. That being the case, how would there be any paper work, except for a build sheet or some internal paper work, that can document this car. The combination doesn,t make since to me. The power would twist the body to the point the doors probility would not work. Just my opinion for what it's worth.

Could a dealer have build such a car and sell it? Then it would have a paper trail.
