Located a engine today.291 heads dated k 69 and early-mid 70,cant remember exactly.Date on 512 block date was absolutley unreadable. 163 intake.Could this have been a LS 5 or 6 or just a Monte Carlo pass car engine. Is there any chance that intake was used in 70 or did someone bolt it on?Dont know much else, the pad was machined to top it off.Just running it by those who would know,,, Thanks

I wish I knew!! The engine was sitting on the floor in the back of an old shop so there was no way to tell. It's all a guessing game,Im just trying to see if there is even any possibility at all that it's a LS 6. Are the 291 heads good heads or just ho hum?

You don't have to take off the oil pan to see if it has 2 or 4 bolt mains.Look at the area above the oil filter.
Look for two enlarged threaded outlets,to accept an external oil cooler. That would be a 4-bolt main block. |
