I know this may be a longshot, but reading the thread by skierkaj and him finding his dad's old Camaro got me thinking. My Dad owned a black on black '64 Impala SS 327/4spd, back around 1968-69. He sold it between 69-70 when he married my mom to get money for their new home, so naturally I never got to see that car or ever ride in it (unless being a sperm counts). I would LOVE to find that car if it still exists or at least what happened to it, but how would I go about doing so? This was in the Bedford/Everett, PA area. Any and all help would be greatly appreciated. This could be the beginning of a mission for me

They might not have the information, but check the local dmv for listings of cars. It would be more helpful if you had some extra info on the car, such as the Vin, but most people don't hold on to that info. I know that I just happened to get lucky on finding my dad's camaro, but I did know that it was in the area somewhere. I also am on the verge of finding my uncle's '76 Starsky & Hutch Torino, which would be just as cool as my dad's camaro. My advice, check the dmv, the dealer (probably won't have info, since they update their records, but check it anyway), and pray you find something that matches. Good Luck!

I was being serious. I hope you don't mind me asking, but is your dad still alive? If yes, then ask him who he sold it to, or where they are from. If he can remember the last name, scour the phone book! If your dad passed on, I'm sorry. I know what it's like, because my dad passed away when i was 16. See if you can come up with a name, then start calling away. All you have to go on is a long shot. Stick it out, and you'll find it.

A good place to start is your dads auto insurance company. There is a chance they have the VIN. If he has a different company now than he did back then, he may remember who he had. An old license plate hanging on the wall somewhere would be a good start too. Good luck...Tony

The clickable link below can help anyone here for decoding Chevy VIN's and Cowl Tags up to 69, go to the site and click on "Decode VIN or Cowl Tag". Now, start searching. Go to the dmv, or call them, as i think you can search vin numbers for a specific car. Don't quote me on this though. It's your best bet. Good luck!
