Default 1969 L89 Chevelle convert

I'm trying to get an idea on the general concensus of the rough value of a 1969 L89 chevelle convertible. The car is local, very rough, but has a matching numbered drivetrain. It is a red, black top, and interior, 4spd car. It is pretty rough needing quarters and most other sheetmetal. As of yet there isn't any docs, but the carpet and tank are still in the car and haven't been removed yet to check for a buildsheet. There is a possibilty that the car might be for sale as well. Any help appreciated.

If it's truly #'s matching and a real L89 conv, buy it! Ultra rare and very desirable. Should be at least a $100K car when restored, probably a lot more than that. I don't follow Chevelle values that closely, but anything with the L89 engine is in demand. That's my opinion and I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm off base.

$10K Keep in mind, likely in the $50-60K range to restore and without docs, only hearsay even though previous owners can be traced. Also, if the body is too far gone, this will drastically effect the value since the car will likely be blacklisted if it were rebodied.

Rick,

I have spent more time with the car, and it isn't as bad as originally thought I feel. It needs a lot of sheetmetal but I think it has a lot of merit. I'm also working on tracing original paperwork on the car. Will try to send pics this weekend to you...

Greg,

Is this car currently owned by a guy named Doug? And did he just get it late last summer?

If you can document the car, buy it ASAP.
