Maybe I have bumped my head, but at some point in time I seem to remember having owned/worked on a 2nd gen camaro that had a piece of thick chrome trim across the bottom of the windshield where it meets the cowl panel.I know other models of GM cars had such a piece, but I have yet to see another camaro.I am looking for such a piece to cover the screws on the lexan windshiled on my race car to make it look more like real glass[the rest of the screws are under the molding}.Maybe I am just mixed up on this issue, but I would like to know if this piece ever existed.Thanks.

Rich,
someone will correct me if I am wrong but I believe the trim your thinking about is a part of the Z21 Style Trim Group. I think this trim package includes chrome around the windows and around the cowl on the back of the hood. Someone else will chime in but I think I am right. -Dan

I'm not so sure about the Z21 style trim group thing. My Camaro (aparently a non Z-21) has chrome moldings around all the windows (back glass, doors, windshield), and there's nothing at the base of the windshield. I can't say I've ever heard of chrome trim down that far on a 2nd gen., but I guess it's still possible . . . I'll check up on it.

On the early 2nd gen. cars, the Z-21 option included bright crome trim on the very back of the hood, or so nastyz28.com says. Aparently there were no chrome pieces covering the bottom of the windshield . . . if the hood covered the bottom of the windshield, why should GM put extra trim on the windshield? Just sounds like some extra weight to me!!!

I know what piece you are talking about...it is a 2-3 inch band of stainless at the base of windshield...not sure about the Camaro application.

As others above have suggested the Z-21 Style Trim option had NO molding of ANY kind across base of front windshield.
The Style Trim Option did include a STAINLESS STEEL molding that gripped back edge of Hood, along with matching molding on top edge of fenders and doors. I looked through many pictures in my collection and chose to attach one of a 70 Z-28. You can see the Black painted cowl, depressed parked wiper blades and Windshield.....Thats ALL....regards, Chuck S

Oh well.I guess there is no such piece.I must have seen it on another type of car.I know thye were used on full size cars and maybe on later chevelles, but I guess not on a camaro.I was figuring I could use it to cover up the screws as well as the unslightly area at the base of the lexan windshiled on my race car.Maybe I can make something. Thanks anyway.
