Default US National Championship

I wanted to ask here first, before other sites.
In the 1969 season,The #1 Fred Gibb/Dick Harrell ZL-1 Camaro won the US National Championship at US 30 Dragstrip.
What time of year was that,Month/Date/Year?
I am helping someone write a paper on this for school.
Thanks

Was it AHRA or NHRA?????You need to find a 69 Rule Book. It lists the dates of all events. Also try to locate a Division 3 Annual for 69 or 70. Super Stock and Drag Illustrated magazine also has good info. There, I made a helpful reply to MR70. Wasn't that nice?

I don't think the #1 ZL1 car won the championship in 1969. I believe they won it in 1971 with Jim Hayter driving. That would be AHRA. Maybe Kim Howie or Ken Bogie would know for sure. PM Helen Gibb. Good luck. Sam

Rick, The Gibb Harrell car won the AHRA world championship in 1971 with Jim Hayter driving the Car. The date was Oct 9th 1971 on a Sat. night. They not won the championship they broke the e.t. record owned by Sox& Martin. they ran a 9.63 at almost 143.

The actual question asked of me was,and correct me if this is an inacurrate statement:
"During the 1969 racing season,The Famed Fred Gibb/Dick Harrell ZL-1 #1 Camaro appeared at Numerous competitions around the country, reaching the final round 7 times, winning 4 of those times. One of those wins included the US National Championship (NHRA?) at Gary Indianas US 30 Dragstrip.
What Month/Date was that exactlly?

I already talked to Helen G.,but she doesn't know either.
I've searched on Draglist.com,& others, but they don't record actual tracks, everything else they did record.

Rick,
The 1969 US Nationals were held at Indy, and you can view the results here - http://www.50th-usnationals.com/apcm...navsource=1969

However, many tracks host "National" as well as "Division" events, a la the "Gator Nationals" in Florida, the "Northwest Nationals" in Seattle, etc.

I couldn't find anything for you on the Gibb-Harrell ZL/1..sorry!

-Sam

Thanks Bob,Kim,Sam,and others as well.
That was Rob,(K92) who posted the Reunion at Oswego, and others from this area last spring.
I have made some inquiries on other sites,as told to me,so I hope to get schooled on this soon.I think the original question,is an inaccurate statement.
I hope to rectify that.
