Default Desktop & Laptop networking help

I just picked up a Dell laptop, and am trying to network it into my desktop via a Wireless-G router. I'm on dial-up, so the router's instructions (broadband) don't apply to me...but, I've got the computers sharing files and communicating wirelessly, and my laptop says the wiereless connection is "excellent", BUT I can't get the laptop to pull up the web? I've been over both systems until my head hurts, and can't seem to find the hangup. I'm running 98SE on the desktop and XP on the laptop, which is fine via the instructions, as both have networking capabilities, but I'm still stuck...

Any ideas??
