Probably best to pass. Will likely cost you WELL over $40K to redo it plus your initial cost of the car. Best to buy a nice one that is finished for around $35K and enjoy it now.

I have sold several cars in same or worse condition over the last few years in the 12 to 15k range. Copo is right though unless you just want to build the car to your liking it is best to buy one done.

BUY IT CHEAP AND SELL IT WITH OUT DOING ANYTHING TO IT. THAT IS THE ONLY WAY TO COME OUT UNLESS YOU ARE GOING TO KEEP IT AND DRIVE IT THEN IT WILL NOT MATTER HOW MUCH YOU HAVE IN IT.

I think under 10K you are in it OK. Even if it just sits as you find parts for it, you have parked the money in probably a better place than the bank. If you can't afford a done one ,this might be the only way to do it. If you ever need to sell, there will be buyers.

Well I'm kinda in the same boat as 67Nova SS. Found a Pace car, sounds about same shape as one he's looking at, but this one has origianl drive train, one owner, but been setting up since late '80's with a tarp over it, outside. Talking 20K here and yep, still gonna cost 30-40 to fix it. Done cars look better and better.
