hi i'm a newbe here and i must say this is a great place. i just bought a 70 chevelle ss and my vid # is 'R' and my trim tag is 'BT' and from what i can gather this is an arlington, texas car. from what i am finding, arlington built mostly monty's. am i right or am i missinformed? i'm in the new england area so i am also wondering how the car might have gotten up here. were cars shipped this far from an assembly plant or do you think it just worked its way up here over time? it's not a #'s mathching (it has an ls6 crate motor), thats not what i bought it for. it's a driver to me.the car had a frame off resto about ten years ago so i dont think i will find any build sheets(i havent looked yet). no paper work came with the car.can anyone give me any info? thanks

Welcome.
Your trim Tag & VIN# are Typical for Arlington build. GM's Arlington,Texas plant didn't favor one car model only,as they started producing the 1970 Chevelle-Elco-Monte Carlo after December 1969. It's quite possible it was delivered to a local Dealer,as they weren't area specific and were shipped to places like Florida,Ct.,Minn.,Washington,etc. If you want to look for your Buildsheet, try looking under the carpet, then floor sound deadener first,as this is where I see most Arlingtons BS are found. Then aim for the Seat backs,Headliner, door panels, etc. Tell me what color & options you have? Trans,Rearend ratio, gauges,(Tach redline),Flapper hood,Buckets.. Any pix or cowl tag info to share? |

thanks for the quick reply. i know it's not an original ls6 because it has the air cond. package, but, on the firewall side there is only the vertical rectangular box behind the passenger side valve cover and the hole where the blower motor should be,under the fender, is not there.???? evidentally someone did a good job of closeing it off. the plug in the middle of the firewall where the air cond. wireing is there, but the wires are cut. the car is now fathom blue, but the original color code,58 B,is autumn gold with vinyle top. it needs a paint job as the paint is all cracked.i'm told lacquer did that. it has buckets, console, speaker brackets for stereo so i guess it had a sterio radio originally, full quage package, automatic (th400,not orig.)ccw rear, the frame and floors of this car are like show room, only needs cleaning, which is why i wanted this car.the interior is excelent, needs cleaning, and the engine compartment just needs cleaning also.original ao wheels w/trim rings and center caps. the car spent most of the last ten years in storage and was driven one to two thou. a year since the resto.
trim tag: 70-13637 bt32664 756 58 b 05b094 i'm planning on haveing it repainted next winter, right now i want to do a leakdown on the motor to see what kind of condition it's in and drive it during the comming spring and summer. |
