Looks good to me. If I was in the market for a Red 70 I would probably check into this further. Our friend "mr70" would be the guy to scrutinize this for you, same color combination as his L78.

I've talked to Carmen about this off line.
I think Brian Henderson,(No not the SCW BKH),looked at this car recently. I will send you his contact info.Carmen. Begining in 1970,the only 4 speed Manual Trans you could get behind the 1970 Chevelle Super Sport new 454 LS-5 or LS-6 engine was the M-22 rock crusher. Less than 2,763 1970 Chevelle-Elcamino-Monte Carlo LS-5's received the M-22 from the factory. The SS 396 got either an M-20,or M-21. |

Carmen,
I had a '70 red/red w/black stripe cowl ind. M22 LS5 3.31 posi w/ BS from Atlanta. My former car's BS is posted over at Chevelle Stuff ( http://www.chevellestuff.com/index.htm ). Good Chevelle reference, btw. From what I have gathered it is not too uncommon to see the LS5 motor coupled to an M22 when a 4 speed was desired. Some folks think this was the only 4 speed coupled with the LS5, but have heard of documented 20s and 21s. It is unusual to see an Arlington built Chevelle with a build sheet. Routine of line workers was not to put BSs in car. Not many around from my experience. Before you waste too much time ask for detailed photos of eng. stamp pad and partial vin on tranny and undercarriage shots. This car will require some elbow grease as I'll bet the underside is pretty grotey. Good Luck! Sam I |

Carmen I too had a 70 SS 454 LS5 M40 that was an Arlington built car that had it's original build sheet. Everyone told me how rare it was to have a build sheet on a car from that plant.

I would be very interested in seeing any documents that reflect this. There are a lot of records that show they didn't do this.Tonawanda for one. When Arlington put them in,they went under the floor sound deadner, thus some think they don't exist, but they do. |

Rick,
There was a thread over at Team Chevelle awhile back. Will have to do some research and will get back to all. Thanks, Sam |
