Default Looking for a project car

Prefer something western/southwestern (i.e. little to no rust), or a lucky midwest survivor/transplant. Aesthetics don't matter, as long as it's solid. Engine/trans/rear don't matter either. Interior--as long as the basics are there, but the nicer the better.

Nothing made of unobtanium please, my budget is limited to the ~10K range.

Cars of interest:

1) FIRST choice is a `67 Chevelle. Prefer to avoid legit SS cars unless the price is reasonable ("reasonable Super Sport" = oxymoron ). 2dr HT only, no wagons, 4 doors or sedans. Will consider `66 models, but heavily prefer the `67.

2) `67-73 Camaro.

3) `65-`66 B-body GM (2 door only, no wagons or 4-doors. Sedans OK)

4) `57 Chevy 2dr HT (sedans considered).

5) `67 Mustang fastback

6) `65 Cutlass

7) Others???...what do you have?

Already been scouring e(vil)Bay to no avail. I'm convinced 80% of the sellers on e(vil)Bay are on dope...and if they ain't, well, then they need to be! Made more phone calls than I can count, and have been on more snipe hunts locally than I'll ever care to admit. I have a 2' stack of classic car trader magazines piling up, and yet, after all this, I still haven't found the "right" car. No, I'm not being too picky, I just know what I want and I know I'll eventually find it.

Any help/leads would be greatly appreciated.

Eric

Wow. You have no idea how good it feels to be welcomed back here. Thank you.

Bob, is that http://www.gmsports.com/ ? If so, I browse their site several times a week looking for updates. I guess I'll just have to give them a call Monday.

Mark;

Thanks! I'm glad you're happy with the carb.

Speaking of which, I guess it's time to let the cat out of the bag. I'm back in the carb business again. Just getting set back up, should be ready to roll by the end of next week or thereabouts.

As before, ANYTHING I can do to help out sYc members, just let me know.

Man, it feels good to be back.

Eric

That is so close it hurts. If it was one of the abovementioned body styles, I'd be on it like ugly on an ape. Crying shame about the door

I'll call GM sports and see what they have monday.

FWIW...if this were a `67, I'd be making a b-line to CA monday to pick up my "new" car.

Oh, it IS tough to pass up...that thing's SWEET!...but if I'm gonna drop that kinda coin (which is a HUGE, likely once-in-a-lifetime deal for me), I'm gonna hold out until I find exactly what I want.

I've learned my lesson in past dealings about compromising on what I want for what's "available" at the time instead...I always lived to regret it.

There's a couple of `67's on eBay right now I'm almost tempted to jump on, but again, they're not quite what I want, and they're priced a little higher than I'd be willing to go for a project car of their caliber.

That's the thing about ebay...great if you're selling, but not-so-great if you're buying.
