What is the story with that decal? What was it used for? Just curious.

That lil Sports Department decal that 70 copo shows on his windshield corner, originally came inside the cardboard Box of the 1/43rd scale plastic promo models for the NEW 1970 Camaro & Corvette only.It was just meant for advertising purposes,as a Novelty.
There is a Much Larger Sports Dept. Decal that in 1970 was offered to dealers in a salesman advertising trim kit. It was meant to be applied to a Car Door of any Hi-po Chevrolet Car,that was inside the showroom. I show a picture of it on a 1970 SS Chevelle in the 1970 Sports Dept. Merchandising Catalog. I recently obtained this kit,and had a pair duplicated from the originals,so as to not ruin the Originals. Once applied, they would tear during removal. The measure roughly 12"X18". I use them on my Chevelle doors frequently at carshows. |

Mosport,
So there you have it. If you want the smaller decal buy the Promo model from 1970. If you want the big one - contact Rick. I do not have any more stickers or I would give you one. There was also a patch too. ![]() ![]() Phil ![]() |
