Holley decoding help, please, possible Z-16 Holley
guys... this carb decodes in Colvins book as Z-16 Holley but the date dont work, service carb????

I agree Kurt, but how many would have been stamped with GM application numbers, and sold to the public??? not trying to be a smart a$$, I have wondered about this question for years, especially on odd or low production type applications. any ideas on your end???
Im guessing they made some extra stuff as required for service work and then discontinued a item like everything else, if they only made 996 Z-16 cars to begin with they probably didnt make to much in the way of spare stuff????  Thnx Bud.

I bought one at a swap cause of the GM #'s. Then realized what it was and started watching, most of the ones I've seen have the GM #. It probably was on the print so it went onto the carb.
Holley chose a model to offer as a standard xxx CFM carb. For whatever reason, they chose the 3310 and made it for years.

3310 is my favorite also...I know they kicked out a bajillion of them over the years...I saw the date/numbers on it and thought cool..I will contact the Z-16 guys and see what they say, thnx for the feedback.

Everyone looks up "3310" and sees 1965 396 Z16. The vast majority are not.
The 1965 List 3310 (and '65 425hp version List 3130) carb is a completely different animal - main body with smooth air horn, small inlet float bowls, everything. Attached is a comparison photo of a 1965 3310/3130 carb with the later, common version. Notice the lack of verticle ribs on the air horn (on either side of the vent tube) and the smaller and different appearing fuel line inlet bosses on the float bowls of the true Z16 carb on the left. The 1965 3310 is rarer than hens teeth (if you're not a midwesterner, hens don't have teeth) since there were only 201 Z16s built. The service replacement 3310 has dates anywhere from 1966 through at least the mid 70's with the GM number on it. There are zillions of them and their value is only as a serviceable carb. Oh yeah, there is one other difference: $$$$ Dave
