"Hope Mel sold his trophy and got his front tooth fixed. In case you didn't notice one was discolored; like it had been damaged and was dead. Needs some dental work instead of a 3rd carburetor." ![]()

That probably was an educational film used in high schools back in the day. I frequently fly in and out of John Wayne Airport in Orange County and it sure doesn't look like that anymore! How about the hair oil? My mother once told me that in the hair oil days you had to change bedding almost every day. Imagine rolling over face-down onto a pillow covered in hair oil. Every granule of dirt that the wind carried would get caught in your oily hair and depositied onto your pillow. Thank God the "wet head" is dead.
Buick was a c47 Roadmaster (help me out here SeattleSam). Jalopy was a '36 Ford 5-window. Obviously a Deuce that Mel traded his Buick for. The preferred tank for lakes racing was the big Lockheed style used on P-38 Lightnings during the war and on early P-80 jets post-war. Technically it was un under-wing tank, too large for mounting on the belly of a WWII fighter. More films Bud! ![]() |
