Default Iowa ZL-1 Possibly?

I was talking to an Old friend about the past.He said he remembered a guy in the Des Moines Iowa area named Larry Byers (sp?) who drove a 1969 Camaro, that was unusually fast in it's day.
I asked what engine, and he replied, "it was all silver...420something,with a rubber ring on the air cleaner..like your Chevelle Rick."
Ring a bell with anyone?

I twouldn't surprise me a bit. COPO Anders has a ZL-1 block that came from Iowa. It came from the Waterloo area-- but that doesn't mean anything. That particular block was in the hands of some local dirt-trackers for some time. They had put slurry in it from what I recall. Anders? Any ideas what ZL-1 that motor came from?

Howie knows. He's just keepin it to himself. Where Im at I was more aware of what was going on across the river in Ill. than middle Ia. I did know about the LB Yenko camaro in DM though for a long time.

Hi Kim, You going to the Wild Wades swap meet in Des Moines?? Maybe we can meet at "Pizza Hut" after the swap and split a pizza.

Having fun,
Alex
