Default Dip stick ID

Came across a dip stick in my parts locker..no idea of its application or origin...part number on stick #3981088..flat top with a red dot..anyone know?? Thanks

3981088 is a big block Chevy dip stick. Not sure what year etc.. Earl

That's a superceded part that came out around 1975 with slight differences from the original.
It's applications are the same as the original Dipstick that it replaced,part #3959158,for 1965-66 Passenger w/396 & 427 CID,and 1966-67 Chevelle-Camaro w/396 CID.
When your using the newer dipstick #3981088,you MUST use the proper tube for it,part #3981089,to accomadate the newer length and design or else your gonna have problems.

SO thats why it was longer!!was not planning on using it..just wanted to know if it any E-pay value!!..thanks Rick
