Mark C. is the guy you want to ask about pace cars (with apologies to the other Z11 experts out there - no offense intended).
Having said that, looks like all the dates are plausible for that car. The rear axle seems a little early for a 3D car, but I don't think it is way out of line. Do you have a picture of the trim tag? That would be my biggest concern on any of the Norwood cars. So many forgeries out there right now. Lynn Bilodeau |

I would agree with you Lynn on the rear.
My 04C Z10 had a 0413 dated rear according to the POP. The rear is still a good code BT = 3.55 posi. I think the trans code is missing the last letter (A,B, or C) also?? ![]() My car has an HB engine code for the 350/300 auto. I think the HA code is correct for the 4spd cars. Also the 041 heads would be the right castings. Is the block a 386 or a 388 casting? Mine is a 388. I'll get the build date off of my block tonight to see how close it is the the car build date. Block should be a 618 casting, probably cast 2 or 3 days before assembly. Cars too late for a 388 casting, and to early for an 010 casting. Muncie case will have an A suffix, since you couldn't get an M21 or M22 transmission in an L48 car. The axle seems to be dated to early for the car (doesn't mean its not the original though) but everything else seems to be correctly dated for a late March built car. Need to see the stamps to see if they are original though.

The majority (if not all) of small block pace cars I have seen all have had the 388 block in them, even April cars and they were real.

The block casting date and assm date are far apart... have you seen the stampings? Broach marks?

That far a spread in casting date to assembly date on the engine would raise some red flags for me. Not impossible, but also not very likely. Get pictures of the assembly code and VIN stamp on the block.
