I found an old Chevy high performance magazine (aug 95)the other day and came upon an article about Car Craft's Bill Clements' 1970 LS6 Convertible.. It has a pic of the build sheet in the article and sure nuff it DOES have the LS6 and L89 options. Did any LS6's ever come with aluminum heads?? It also has the fiberglass hood option. It shows the code LW in box 60 of the build sheet. This was made by Acme fab in LA back in the day who also made the Olds W30 glass hood. Is this car legit? Anyone ever hear anymore about it??

I think I remember that issue. Was it a black stripe delete car?

It has generally been believed to be a real LS-6 convert but not an L-89. I am only repeating what I have been told as I have never seen the car or it's documents other then what has been in magazines and on B-J when it was sold there. It sold there about 5 years ago for $45k from what I recall and a customer of mine was bidding on it at the time. Unfortunately, I told him to pass when it got to $45 as I thought that was getting rather ridiculous. He now says "
![]() If in fact the hood, stripes and heads are real I would certainly think the current owner would be proud to share that info and the car as it would certainly be unique and valued beyond imagination. Rick

I'll just add this......Don't forget he's also the guy who owns the infamous "WZ" '61 Impala SS, which is a stereotypical Texas tall tale, and as bogus as a $3. bill...
AND he's currently advertising Blank New cowl tags for $125. plus $10. a strike per character of your choice..... ![]() |

Yes, of the defunct Chevycraft. You may recall, he was also involved in the sting operation by the government over repro VIN tags many years ago.

Is he the same guy that found a 57 Black Widow Chevy in a barn and also had Buddy Holly's Impala?

I'm not too certain of his other exploits. Knowing what little I do know is enough misfortune.
