Default Can anyone deny the 69 Camaro is King-O-the-Hill ?

On eBay this evening, I saw a '69 Cammaro standard NOS
argent painted grill go for a whopping amount.

How much you ask? How about $2,413.88

I love my '69 SS, but I gotta seriously consider breaking
it apart and selling all of my components. Insanity at
its best.

What's that? You want me to sell my Camaro?
Say what? Take it apart and sell the pieces?
I can get how much for the parts?

Steve

I hear ya. Some things get crazy. It's a little weird to have an air cleaner on my Caprice that people have paid $4,550.00 for. If I pulled my engine, from pan to air cleaner it would bring in at least twice what I paid for the whole car. I guess it's that supply and demand thing along with some people with deep pockets.

Mark,

Exactly what kind of air cleaner are we talking about here?
I'd like to see an image.

Probably about $2,313.88 cheaper, but the fit up against
the fenders could possibly be an issue. I've seen some
ugly grill to fender matches over the years. Not sure if
the repop grills are the culprit or not.

Steve,
There's a picture that shows 3 of the air cleaners lined up on the grass in this thread.

iI disagree with the grill being the culprit. i have just tried 4 yes i said 4 69 camaro fenders on a car im restoring and every one fit different.2 were goodmarks, one a dynacorn, and one a no namer?? the no namer had the best fit of them all.not good but the best.one goodmark fit the repop grill PERFECT but the door gap sucked, the dynacorn fit the door great but the grill fit like crap, the other goodmark fit like it was for a school bus or something, and the no namer fit everything pretty decent.i have an original grill that fit all the fenders exactly the same as the repop grill???? bottom line.......you better be ready to slice and dice to make these parts fit,or shell out HUGE MONEY for the GM STUFF.and hope it fits.$2500 for a grill.....thats insane !!!!!

Bob,

Nice input on the grill/fender(s) fitting results. You
never really think about this stuff until you need to.

Regarding the $$ spent on the NOS grill in this thread,
you are correct. That is far too much money to be spent
for a plastic grill. We are far from seeing the top end
of the price insanity here though.

Here's other recent examples of what I mean:

$295.00 for a used water pump ( 3931065 - J 2 8 dated )
$879.76 for an NOS ZL-1 camshaft ( no lifters )
$1,030.00 for pair of NOS early BBC motor mounts
$700.00 for NOS 3933198 intake ( 12 18 73 dated )
$1,098.69 for pair of 69 Camaro used front inner fenders
$630.00 for used Endura bumper
$1,026.00 for 69 Camaro 12 bolt rear ( housing only )
$2,424.00 for 69 Camaro dash pad ( with usual bald spot )
$2,125.00 for ZL-1 crank, rods & pistons

how about $1550. for a Rs nos wiper motor and pump, I guess it's a good time why I'm selling all my GM nos stuff off now.
