Default eBay auction - One for the books!

Hey guys!

It seems that all too often, we see crazy eBay prices for
ZL-1, COPO, Z/28, etc. related items that we get somewhat
complacent about other Chevy SHP items. I was following an
eBay auction for a complete set of '67 Corvette - Kelsey
Bolt On Wheels with red line tires. These things went
through the roof ( or so I think ). How's $30,000.00 for
four wheels, center caps & tires sound!

See the auction:
1967 Corvette Kelsey Bolt On Wheels

I'll have to raz some of my Corvette friends next time they
comment on Camaro eBay auction prices.

Steve

This is not justification for spending that money just a POSSIBLE explanation:

Bolt on wheels for '67 are not reproduced to high standards so the only wheels around for high dollar restorations including Corvettes like BBC coupes even more so converts (L-71, L-88, L89). It would not surprise me one bit if these wheels are going on a car that underwent a $150,000-$200,000 restoration. Remember the ZL1 carb that went for $10,000? Same princple here too. What is $30,000 for a car that is worth $500,000+?

Then again this could have been a staged auction too...

-----The tires alone, if Firestone 7.75 correct, original, non-DOT, NOS redlines, are worth over half that total of $30,000 for five. I could call any one of probably 10 different numbers right now and have money wired into my account tomorrow. Thats just guys I happen to know........Bill S
