Default Sbc water pump help!

On a short style sbc water pump I have, there is a gm part number on one side and then on the othreside it has I 7 5 . Is this september 75. I tried to look for it in my fathers gm parts books but I had no luck. Any input on the date would help.

From the CRG:

[ QUOTE ]
For cast-in date codes on GM-produced iron and aluminum castings (engine blocks, heads, intakes, water pumps, etc.), the letter "I" was used for September, and the last month of the calendar year (December) was the letter "L". For stamped-in date codes on GM-produced components (alternators, distributors, starters, etc.), the letter "I" was not used - "I" was skipped, and "J" became September, with December being "M". Some rare exceptions to this convention have been observed. For example, a few casting dates have been seen with "M" for December; until further research indicates otherwise these exceptions are considered non-normative production anomalies.

[/ QUOTE ]

Therefore, yes, your I75 would be a September 7th, 1965 (or 1975 for an over the counter replacement.)
