Hey , i'll try this again and see if I can do it right this time . I ran across a guy that says he has this car and will send me pics soon . He said it's a 70 olds W31 350/325 hp RAM Air 65,000 automatic runnin/drivin car red/white stripes white int. all orig. except paint work on doghouse .....said floors and trunk are beautiful....orig. wheels with poly tires . He said he has full docs that he will present to anyone and #'s match from carb to rear end . He said it will be an easy resto for anyone . I don't know diddly about these cars and wondered what a ballpark price is on this piece .....any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks , Richard

There is no such thing as a easy resto some just cost less it does sound like a nice car to have good luck just pay what its worth to you if you want it, you can go to ebay and do a advance search and look at completed auctions

Oldsmobiles are impossible to verify without some paperwork. Unique to the w31 are the balancer, intake and carb. Heads are identifiable internally only.
As far a price is concerned I have seen the following ranges. $15-20,000 for documented restoration projects. $30,000 for documented #2 condition cars(nicely restored but used since restoration) $40,000 to $45,000 for documented #1 resto's. Everything else is just a Cutlass without paperwork. Interest in these cars are increasing, but you gotta prove what it is. Any more info you can provide on this car could help with your decision. I have not owned any w-31's but have known a few through their restoration process.

Yikes!? Paul, you've seen W31's go for $45K? I thought that was still big block territory for Oldsmobiles.
I was hoping to find a nice W31 to restore thinking I was not going to find a W30 project worth working on for less than $20K. Sounds like the W31 is moving out of my price range too. I better hurry! Small block Olds going for $40K+............SIGH. |

A Rallye 350 sold at BJ yesterday for $30k. Frame off resto.
When the Speed announcers say that the car was "well bought", does that mean the seller got screwed? ![]()

The have been other offered at $50,000 + and I dont know if they traded hands. Right car, color paperwork and history thay are worth the money.

A yellow 4 speed with an original window sticker sold at BJ in January for $42,000 (I believe this was the price). It was a nice car, I loved it.

Guess I could see the white car you mentioned. That's a very desirable & rare combo. The rear end alone is worth about $8K.
Don't know where I've been. I haven't seen a W31 go for over $30K. Kind of like the "Rallye 350" cars. I think these are a bargain right now (if you're interested in making money on a car). You can get a strong #2 to a frame off car for the low $30's. Definitely becoming a rich man's hobby. Maybe I'll just clone a W31 from a Cutlass, after I pay $1,000.00 for a harmonic balancer................ |
