Default Be careful replacing clutches and brakes

My dads attorney stoped by today while I was working on one of my old cars and he informed me that the clutches and brake pads may contain asbestos and since my dad had passed away from mesothlomia (asbestos cancer of the worst kind)that I had better be extra careful because my body has the same genes as my dads it really upset me that something that my dad and I loved to do together may have killed him and may get me ,after watching my dad pass away from this terrible disease and now after hearing this I don't think I can ever work on an old car again. Asbestos I thought was only in insulation but I got a big time education on it today. Please be careful around this stuff put on a mask and never blow it off with a air compressor wet it down and wipe the dust away.

You need a special HEPA filter full face mask. Using a regular dust mask would be about like using a balloon for a condom.

Joey,

Thanks for mentioning the proper procedures when working around clutch and brake dust as I'm sure you will help many people. I'm sorry to hear about your father and hope you won't have any health problems as a result of doing work on your cars.

Dave
