Default '55-'57 Chevys

How is the aftermarket/repro parts situation for tri-fives? We all read constantly about how much crap there is out there for '60s musclecars and I'm wondering if it's that bad for the older Chevys. Danchuk, etc.

Is there a good site for '55-'57 Chevys like the Y-net is for supercars?

Here's an example for 'ya. My '55 Chevy ex-Gasser had one of the regular reproduction chrome grills. These actually come with instructions to not get them wet. Figure that one out! Anyway this was a beautiful, brand new grill and the car sat out in the rain one night while I worked on another car in the garage. You should have seen that grill the next day. Rusted like crazy at the seams. Anyway there is a fella that makes them up out of stainless steel that look exactly like original. Cost close to $500 bucks, but it is a lifetime part and worth every penny. That's what's in the car now.

Oh, and as far as Tri-Chev web sites, check out chevytalk.com. There some some great forums for stock and modified shoeboxes.

There is still a part of me that wants to build a lightweight, straight front axle, mountain motor, no frt. bumper '55 210 post coupe. Primer only for the first few years. Still the only car to me that looks good on the street with huge rear slick. Those old skinny spoked wheels would look good up front.

GRB, you have described my car almost exactly. I've been messin' around with this car for the last few years and with so many Gassers being built in recent years, it's neat to own the real thing with a great race history. This car is the hottest, noisiest, vibrating rattle trap you can possibly drive and after 10 minutes of being in it, you can't wait to get out of it. But half an hour later, you can't wait to go for another ride. I guess that's the best way to describe it. Sorry for the terrible photo.
