Default Someone has been busy (-ier)!

This looks interesting....

Book Description
They were the baby boomers' first cars, made to race, and they did, driving their Corvettes and ‘Cudas, their Mustangs and Trans Ams, until there wasn’t much left. Now these muscle cars of the Sixties and Seventies are the stuff of legends . . . and nostalgia. And the rare models that survived in good shape are a collector’s dream, easily commanding six-figure prices and often passing the million-dollar mark. Million Dollar Muscle Cars provides a photographic history of these rarest of rare cars, from the high-performance fantasies of yesterday to the high-finance wheeling and dealing of today. In full-color pictures and detailed prose, the book follows these cars from their performance beginnings to their decade of decline to an automotive world awakening to their historical significance and eternal cool.

Congratulations!

Is this new? Maybe the one David Newhart was previewing at SCR X?

Sounds like one of them "Gotta Have" Deals!

And it was written by a 22 year old kid!

It is the same book that David was showing the proof sheets of at SCR10, and the same one that I donated 10 copies of to the auction.

Although I am biased, I do think it is a "must have". It isn't like any other muscle car book you have ever read. If you liked Joe Oldham's book, you'll like this one. Neither one of us pulls many punches.

The 10 SCR10 advance copies will be shipping in a few weeks, regular orders will be going out by the end of September. Motorbooks is selling 100 signed editions, but if you can live without my scribble in the front cover I will be posting a link with a special SYC discount for members only. Stay tuned!

Well, Joe Oldham's book was awfully good to be comparing this one to. He was really there back in the day tearing these things up. How 'bout an excerpt from this new book to make it stand out among the hundreds of similar musclecar books on the shelf at Barnes & Noble.

Hey Bill,

Actually, I'm pretty happy somebody thinks I look 22. I must be catching up on my sleep after finishing the book while still working 12 hour days at my "real" job!

Mark,

I agree, Joe's book is spectacular. It is a fantastic account from a guy who "walked the walk" back in the day.

If you liked Joe's chapter on his Baldwin Motion Camaro, you'll love my book. It is full of first hand accounts of individual cars from new to present day. Such as Ken Barnhart's ZL-1, Charley's Super Snake, Mike G's Sox&Martin 'Cuda, etc.

My book picks up where Joe's stories leave off. Excerpts won't tell you much, just like buying an album because you like one song-sometimes you like the rest and sometimes they just air the best song! You need to go to B&N in a month or so and just page through it. Pick a couple of stories and read them. Not to mention look at the incredible photographs Newhardt contributed.

There may be 100's of books about muscle cars, but this one is different than any other you have ever read. Let me know what you think when you get your hands on one.

Best regards,
Colin

Here we are all seeing the original rough drafts and all the stories that went with. What a great time. Dave was having a blast telling us about it and we were all having a great time hearing about it. Thanks for the great time David and Colin.

In that case, I look forward to seeing it. I love reading individual experiences about these cars. You know, racing stories, etc. The new Factory Lightweights book has some great vintage drag racing stories in it and if this new book is similar, I'm sure I'll be picking one up. Thanks.
