Default NOS pink rods

I saw a set of new sbc connecting rods for sale with the X casting on the cap also with pink and blue paint.

I thought sbc pink rods had the O casting. Did GM randomly use X and O rods for their over the counter pink rods?

Are these X rods the real deal?

That's a great question !I thought they were supposed to have an O. Maybe that explains why on some motors chalked on the back of the head is sometimes an X or an O. Possibly these markings designates which rods are in which motors. But Why? Hopefully an answer will arise shortly.

I believe my LT1 has the 'O' rods, but there were white 'X's on all four ends of the heads. I believe the 'X's on the ends of the heads indicates torqued or checked - white is one and blue is the other, I just don't remember which is which.

after reading this thread i went into the garage and checked a set of sbc rods that i've got and they're stamped with an "X" which means it's a pink rod then .these rods have been sitting in a box for close to 4 years and i've been thinking of tossing them . are these rods really worth anything because i was going to toss them into the round file next month when i clean out my garage
