The '69 Chevelle bumperettes were separate option codes, front and rear. Would I be assuming correctly that one could be ordered without the other?

That's correct, you didn't have to order one to have the other as they were available individually under RPO V31 Front-#993687,and RPO V32 Rear-#993688.
The only way you got one automatically with the other, was if you ordered the Appearance Guard Group, under RPO ZP-5.It included F/R Bumper Guards,Door Edge Guards,Color Keyed F/R Floor Mats, and the Visor Vanity Mirror. |

That makes sense, since 69 el Caminos did not have rear bumper guards, but I have seen many with the fronts alone.

I need a r.h. front to complete a set for our Chevelle. I guess I can install the rears without looking too out of place.
