Came across this while wasting some time. Don't know anything about it but somebody here has to know the car.

My Wife and I saw the car and talked with Carl T. for quite a while at the 2007 R/S auction. Amazing piece of Chevrolet history with some very interesting stories! Apparently Smokey had a lot of research time into the development of these heads, and other projects, but Chevrolet wanted to shift direction more to fuel economy and smog control. To compensate him, Chevrolet gave him a few of these engines-far less than he thought he was owed.

As I recall there is nothing that ties that engine to that car.

For $247,000 you would think they could have repaired the mangled crossmember.

The Hemi 302 was a failed engineering experiment. It made no more power than the production 302, was never raced or sold to the public. Chevy gave up on it; so did Yunick.

Is it just a coincidence that this car and the '70 have surfaced after Yunicks' passing? No mention of either of them in his 652 page book.

Considering the motors ive seen on ebay were 100K,the price doesnt sound too bad for the car.

King,

Are you saying that $175K for a 68 Z is not a bad price?

Was that asking price or sale price...cause those can be two way different things?...
