Does anyone have any knowledge as to what costs are involved with selling a car to a Canadian buyer. I know there is paperwork that needs to be handled to get the car across the border, but are there any fees or additional taxes involved?

The buyer has to pay GST on the value at the border, and if he's from a province that has sales tax, he'll pay that when he registers it.
The paperwork needs to be faxed to the border crossing he's using 48 or 72 hours in advance. Can't remember which. |

The buyer should take care of "importing" the car. And a piece of advice, don't screw around with the selling price. Canada Customs are very schrewd about determining what a car is worth and if they smell something funny about the bill of sale or transfer price, life can get very complicated.

Absolutely!!! It's relatively easy to do it all yourself, as Canuck said, or if your trucking the car into Canada anyway, some trucking outfits handle everything and it's a true "door to door" service for only an extra $250 in paperwork.
